Electrocompaniet ECI-5 MkII click/noise in speakers when turning on/off

I recently purchased an Electrocompaniet ECI-5 MkII integrated amplifier. When turning it on, after the relay is activated I hear a short clicking and/or noise in the speakers (B&W 805 D3). A similar noise/click occurs when turning off the amplifier. The behavior is independent on which source is selected, volume settings and power supply phase of the amp.

Did anybody experience anything like this with Electrocompaniet amplifiers?

    Best regards, Johnny

PS. You can answer in German. No problem.

click (one) should be normal (relay), when there are more clicks + noise, maybe the relay is weak, so it doesn`t stay in contact. no great thing to renew this by a professional.
    second
the relay should switch, when the electrolytic capacitors of the mains supply are fully loaded. when one ore more of them are weak, the relais makes contact, no contact in serial behavior and you have ill sound out of your boxes.
    same procedure as first case.

operation: everytime switch main power in muted condition, so press mute and then switch off. when you switch on, first the sources, wait 30 sec. and then switch on.

    sorry for my english:F:

Thank you, your English is fine :-)

Yes the first click is from the relay. The cracks and noise comes afterwards.

Your suggestion that a relay or capacitor is weak/defect is good - except that the amplifier is 2 days old, and this should not happen here. Right?

right, normaly that starts with older equipment. but as we say in german, the devil never sleeps

when it is brandnew, back to sender, his problem:E
but prove to be shure, that you have no short circuit at the main out binding posts, a little copper thread is enough to cause malfunktion (on amp and loudspeakers)

what i have found in the manual

"The main switch is located in the center of the lower part of the front
panel. In daily operation, switch off the ECI 5 MKII by using the MUTE
button on the remote control. If the ECI 5 MKII has been switched off,
allow two hours of warm-up for optimal sonic performance. When the
ECI 5 MKII is not to be used for a long period of time, use the main
switch to turn the unit off. Then disconnect the AC main cord for maxi-
        mum safety"

but, that cannot be normal, as you describe it ...
